EP “Translation Studies” available now

With the EP ‘Translation Studies’, Vancouver based composer/guitarist Alvaro Rojas begins a new chapter in his work; exploring how simple rules inspired by nature can yield beauty and complexity. Developed during studies with composers/sound artists Susie Ibarra and Jake Landau, Rojas explores recursive and self-similar processes found in branching, spirals and paper folding patterns, and creates a set of pieces that is a statement on its own, as well as a preview of future investigations. Elements of these natural processes are translated into musical material, and slowly unravel through 4 reflective pieces for solo guitar, and 1 for guitar quartet.
